How much am I unaware of?
What do I not have words for?
Humans have a particular spectrum of senses, along with all other organisms. Some creatures are sensitive to the same dynamics of existence (such as hearing sound or seeing light, detecting temperature…) but have a different sense of it, a different range of perception, a different relationship to the same aspects. A difference of conceptualization takes shape…
So much of my life experience is communicated through sound and light. What would life be like without these?
My sense of sound changes as I focus on listening: paying attention to certain frequencies, identifying each individual thing I’m hearing, manipulating aspects of sounds, noticing how each adjustment affects mood…
There is joy in drinking pure tea, noticing subtle flavors. gentle sensation.
Even blatant scents often grow unnoticed after being exposed to them for so long. We see more of what we’re looking for and blur what is abstract. I notice how feeling requires fluctuation: for instance, I feel a material with my hands by running my fingers along it. The absence of motion accompanies an absence of sensation.
